The Main Page
The main page integrates access to all categories. When you are on the opening page you should see a list of Recent News Items, Recent Press Releases and New Products. Ten items each will show up with links to additional pages after the last entry. The most recent are displayed first. Just underneath the additional page links are additional options which will allow you to adjust what is being displayed. If you click on 'Today's News' you will see items that were entered today. If you click on 'This Week's News' you will see items that were entered in the last seven days. If you click on 'Weekly Archives' you will see items from the last 52 weeks. The time period you selected will follow you around the site. If you clicked on 'Today's News' and then viewed Press Releases, you will be seeing items entered today. Use those links to adjust the time frame. If you click the PetPress.net logo at the top of the page, it will return you to the Main Page with the News Items and Press Releases. There are three drop-downs at the top of the page that will allow you to further refine what are seeing by category! If you click on the 'View News Items' or 'View New Products' drop-down, you can select an individual marketplace. Items matching the timeframe you have selected and that marketplace will appear on your screen. You can select a marketplace from the News Items, Press Releases or New Products.
Our Mailing Lists
You may visit our site and catch up on the News Items and Press Releases anytime but we also have a mailing list system installed that will send the day's entries directly to your email account! If you click on 'Receive Releases by E-Mail' up at the top, you can sign-up as a Subscriber. Complete the required fields and then check off the marketplaces that you wish to receive emails from. You can choose between News Items and Press Releases. You may edit your subscriptions anytime by clicking on the 'View Your Profile' link at the top. From here just click on 'Edit User Details' and make any adjustments to your subscription list. You can put your subscription(s) "on-hold" in case you're going to be away from your email account and don't want our notices clogging up your inbox. Just change the 'Subscription Status' from Active to Disabled. When you return, just change this back!
Adding News Items
Anyone who is registered with Pethobbyist.com may add a news item! Click on the 'Add a News Item' link. If you're not signed in you will have to provide your Pethobbyist.com username and password first. Now just complete the form by entering the Source, Caption, brief Summary, web url and what market(s) the news item would be of interest to. All submissions are held pending approval by one of our staff. Once approved your News Item will start to appear and we thank-you for participating! You may add another or return to the site.
Reporting Bad News Links
If you click on one of our News Items and the link is no longer valid, please help keep our site current and up to date by using the 'Report Dead Link?' option. This will flag that item for review by one of our Staff. We have an automated program that checks our links once each day to help ensure our content is valid.
Adding Press Releases
If you wish to add Press Releases to our site, you should click on the 'Register to Post Press Releases' link at the top of the screen. Please complete the required fields and then select any News Items or Press Release marketplaces you wish to receive daily emails from. Our Vendors must be approved by our Administrator before you can post Press Releases. Once approved as a Vendor, then you can click on 'Post a Press Release' and enter your information. Each Press Release must be approved by our Administrator before it appears.
Adding New Products
Anyone who is registered with Pethobbyist.com may add a news item! If you wish to add a New Product Release to our site, you should click on the 'Post a new Product Release' link at the top of the screen. Please complete the form and add your product. You may upload an image of your New Product, and you can save your contact information so you don't have to re-enter everything if you enter another New Product later! All New Products must be approved by our Administrator before they appear.
Searching Our Site
If you're looking for something specific or haven't been here in a while, our Search Engine provides you with easy access to our content! Just click on the 'Search' link up at the top of the screen. On the Search form you may enter keywords and search either through the News Items, Press Releases or New Products. Search Tips normal searching can be keywords separated by spaces, ie 'cool steel cages' (returns any record with one of those words) for words you *must* have, add a '+', ie 'cool +steel cages' (returns any record with steel. Records with cool and cages will be returned first. If 'steel' is not found in any records, no results will be returned.) for words you *can't* have, add a '-', ie 'cool +steel -cages' (returns any record with steel, but not cages. If a 'good' record also has cool, it's returned first. If there are no records *with* 'steel' but *without* 'cages', nothing will be returned, even if 'cool' is found.) The 'Search In' drop-down allows you to search through the 'News Releases' or our 'News Items'. Keywords are matched almost exactly. A search for 'snake' does not match 'kingsnake', etc. However, a search for plurals will revert back to singular. For example, a search for "blues" would match the word "blue", etc.
