How To Make a DIY Hamster Cage And Save Money

-A plastic storage bin or container (at least 24 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 12 inches high)

-A piece of wire mesh (at least 24 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 2 inches high)

-Tape measure

-Scissors

-Permanent marker

-Hacksaw

-Wire cutters

-Drill with a 3/8-inch bit

-Paint or a sealant (optional)

Instructions

1. Measure and mark the center of the bottom of your storage bin.

2. Cut a piece of wire mesh that is the same size as the bottom of the bin.

3. Center the wire mesh over the hole you cut in the bottom of the bin and tape it in place.

4. Use a hacksaw to cut four 2-inch ventilation holes around the sides of the bin, about 2 inches from the top.

5. Cover the holes with wire mesh and tape in place.

6. Drill a 3/8-inch hole in the top of the bin.

7. Cut a piece of wire mesh that is at least 24 inches long and 12 inches wide.

8. Twist the wire mesh into a spiral and make a small loop at one end.

9. Feed the spiral wire through the hole in the top of the bin.

10. Use wire cutters to trim off any excess wire.

11. Optional: Seal or paint your hamster cage to protect it from moisture and chewing.
