Last year, three men and a teenager armed with weapons burst into an old swan house through the back door in Liverpool, England for a robbery.
The criminals threatened the owners of a house, a couple with their newborn baby. They demanded an amount of cash, then took their six American Bulldogs and VW Golf car that was parked outside.
Fortunately, none of the robbery victims were injured, but they were just shocked since the robbery happened during the day at 2.25 PM.
It didn’t take a long time for the police to catch the criminal. Only one hour after the robbery happened, two of the robbers were caught, and later the rest were arrested as well.
The car and all six American bulldogs were later recovered.
On June 30, 2021, 8 months after the criminals were arrested, they were sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court. Here are the sentences that they got from the court with the total jailed for 35 years.
- Anthony Ainsworth (22 years old) – sentenced to 10 years and 9 month for the conspiracy of the robbery.
- Lewis Prendergast (24 years old) – sentenced to 9 years and 9 month for the conspiracy of the robbery
- Stephen Prendergast (43 years old) – sentenced to 10 years and 9 month for the conspiracy of the robbery
- A boy who cannot be named for legal reasons (17 years old) – sentenced to 4 years and 2 month for the conspiracy of the robbery and possession of a weapon
Though the court has made their final decision about the sentences for the four robbers, there were many people who were not satisfied. They shared their opinion on social media and said that the sentencing is not long enough for the robbers.
After the sentencing, Detective Chief Inspector Sarbjit Kaur said: “I welcome today’s sentencing, which will see the offenders behind bars for a long time, following this complex investigation. The appalling attack last October saw the victims terrified and threatened with weapons, and left them extremely distressed.
“That the puppies were found offered a little consolation, and we hope that today’s sentences provide further comfort as they look to recover”, according to Merseyside police
In 2021, there has been a significant rise in puppy theft, you should beware of every situation since criminals can be anywhere.
