Rottweilers are considered one of the oldest breeds of dogs. The first impression that the Rottweiler makes can be described in one word – reliability. After observing the dog a little more, you understand that this impression is fully justified. Nevertheless, it is interesting how this breed of dogs appeared and developed.
#1 The history of the Rottweiler breed began in the German city of Roth Weil, in the middle of the XVIII century.
#2 These are large, massive and strong dogs – descendants of cattle-driving ancient Roman molosses.
#3 They were used to protect and drive livestock.
#4 Often they were used as harnesses, harnessed to small carts in which the butchers delivered the meat to the market.
#5 Rottweiler refers to molosses or dog-shaped dogs, the ancestor of which is the Tibetan mastiff.
#6 Rottweilers were widespread during the military campaigns of Ancient Rome.
